TriFactor Returns: A Promise to Can Gio and the Call of Memories
Chapter I: Memories of a Teacher
Do you remember?
Do you remember the feeling of your first triathlon? The feeling of waking up at 4 a.m., your heart pounding while the city was still asleep. The strong aroma of coffee mingled with the cool morning air. The familiar journey from Saigon to Vung Tau, the bus ride devoid of lively conversation, instead filled with focused silence, each person lost in their own thoughts, a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
Do you remember the feeling of bravely plunging into the salty sea for the first time, the rough waves, the chaotic sensation of being surrounded by hundreds of arms and legs, and the joy of your feet touching the sand? Do you remember the feeling of your legs feeling like lead when transitioning from cycling to running, a feeling no book can describe? And above all, do you remember the overwhelming feeling, the sweet liberation, when you saw the finish line, knowing that you had accomplished something you previously thought impossible?
For so many people in the Vietnamese triathlon community, those first memories, those introductory lessons, those great personal victories, are all linked to one name: TriFactor.
It's not just a competition. It's the first "teacher" of an entire generation. TriFactor is where we learn to confront our fear of swimming in the open sea. It's where we understand the importance of managing our energy. It's where we realize that, in this sport, community is more important than competition. It's a playground where amateur athletes are treated like heroes, where the applause for the last-place finisher is just as enthusiastic as for the champion.
TriFactor has sown the seeds of passion, laid the foundation stones, and created a safe playing field where thousands of people can begin their journey.
Chapter II: The Silence of Waiting
Then the teacher temporarily disappeared.
The Vietnamese triathlon community continues to grow stronger. New starting points have been established in new territories. Bigger, more prestigious brands have arrived. Former TriFactor students, now mature and confident, are conquering even greater challenges like Ironman 70.3. The flame ignited by TriFactor has not died out, but has spread into a blazing fire.
But for many of us, there remains a void. A quiet regret. The absence of a tournament with a family atmosphere. The absence of a true "playground" for beginners, where they can try, fail, and grow without feeling overwhelmed. The absence of the familiar feeling of a weekend gathering in Vung Tau, where we could meet familiar faces again.
That silence was filled with anticipation. A whisper in the community: "If only TriFactor would come back."
Chapter III: The Promise to the “Green Oasis”
And now, that whisper has been answered. The old friend, the first teacher, has returned.
A welcome that couldn't be more heartfelt, a return that couldn't be more meaningful. TriFactor Vietnam has returned, not just with a competition, but with a promise for a new chapter.
This time, the stage isn't the familiar seaside city of Vung Tau, a place filled with our memories. The promise is made in a completely new location, a promising stage with a different feel. It's an invitation to the "green oasis" of Can Gio .
This isn't just a change of location. It's a change of experience. Can Gio, the green lung of Southern Vietnam, promises a race to immerse yourself in nature. Instead of high-rise buildings and crowded streets, we'll be surrounded by the vast green of mangrove forests, breathing the fresh air of one of the world's most important biosphere reserves.
Try to imagine this:
The swimming portion takes place in a gateway sea area, where currents and waves will present new and unique challenges.
The cycling portion, on flat, straight roads lined with dense trees and a few small bridges, presents a slight challenge for athletes, an experience rarely found elsewhere.
And the jogging under the trees, with birdsong, a few families of monkeys, and fresh air, was a reward for the relentless effort.
Returning to Can Gio is more than just a race. It's an adventure, a journey back to nature, an opportunity to reconnect with oneself in a deeper way.
Though the playing field may change, the spirit remains the same
A new location, a new challenge, but one thing will never change: the soul of TriFactor. This return is not just an event, it's a statement. A statement that the philosophy of "a playground for everyone" is still there, stronger and clearer than ever.
This weekend, August 16th and 17th , Can Gio will become a true festival for all ages and skill levels:
This is where young warriors will have their first race, sowing the seeds for a future generation.
It's a place where beginners (Freshmen) can bravely take their first steps into the world of triathlon in a safe and encouraging environment.
This is where sprint and standard enduro athletes can challenge their limits.
The teacher has returned, with a new class, but with the same dedicated heart, always welcoming new students.
Conclusion: Welcome Home
The return of TriFactor is fantastic news. It not only enriches the competition calendar, it fills a void in the hearts of the community. It brings back a friend, a mentor, a part of the youthful memories of so many people.
At Gopeaks, we are incredibly excited. Many of our students, from veterans to complete newcomers, will be in Can Gio. We will be there not only to compete, but to celebrate.
And if you're going to be there too, remember that you're not just participating in a race. You're being part of a rebirth. You're writing the next chapter of a beautiful story.
Come, not just to find a medal. Come to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Come to welcome back a legend. Come together, once again, to say “welcome home” to TriFactor.
