Trikids Rises to the Top: Behind the Medals Lies a Journey of Nurturing Love

December 23, 2025

Trikids LTAD is the philosophy we've chosen: the joy of achievement. When we see the young Trikids athletes standing on the podium receiving their medals at Trifactor, what shines even brighter is the sparkle in their eyes and smiles…

Watching the young Trikids athletes stand on the podium receiving their medals at the recent Trifactor competition filled me with pride and emotion. But if you look closer, beyond the glitter of the medals, you'll see something even more radiant: the sparkling eyes of joy, the tight hugs, and the smiles not just of the winners, but of an entire extended family.

Those medals only tell half the story. The other half, the more important part, is the story of a journey built on laughter, ice cream, camaraderie, and above all, a philosophy of sustainable development. Many people ask, what is Trikids' secret?

The answer might surprise you: Our secret is to let children play more than train, and let fun come before achievement. This is the core of Trikids, and also why it's completely different from the Gopeaks program for adults. Behind this seemingly simple philosophy lies a globally recognized scientific method called LTAD – Long-Term Athlete Development .

What is Trikids – LTAD? A Scientific Foundation for Holistic Human Development

Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a science-based sports development model that focuses on building a holistic and age-appropriate foundation for athletes at each stage of their biological development, rather than relying solely on their stated age.Imagine building an athlete is like building a pyramid: you can't have a towering peak without a broad and solid foundation.

The LTAD model that Trikids applies, based on international standards such as those of the United States (USA Triathlon LTAD) and Canada, divides an athlete's journey into several stages. Each stage has its own objective:

  • The first phase (Active Start, FUNdamentals): From ages 3-9, the goal is 100% fun. Children learn basic motor skills (running, jumping, throwing, balancing) through play. This is the time to sow the seeds of a love for sports, with absolutely no pressure to achieve results.

  • Intermediate Stage (Learn to Train, Train to Train): From ages 9-15, children begin to learn structured yet gentle training methods. They are encouraged to play a variety of sports for holistic development, avoiding premature specialization which can lead to injury and burnout.

  • Final stage (Learn to Compete, Train to Win…): Only when the body and mind are truly ready do athletes begin intensive training to compete and aim for high achievements.

Forcing children to train intensely too early is like building a roof without a foundation. The consequences are exhaustion, injury, and worst of all, the child will come to hate the sport they once loved..

Trikids LTAD and Gopeaks: Two Pathways, One Love of Sports

This is the core reason why we had to separate Trikids and Gopeaks into two distinct programs. They share a love for triathlon, but their missions and approaches are completely different.

1. Trikids – LTAD's Mission: Nurturing a Future Generation

At Trikids, we don't aim for achievements. Our mission is bigger than that: to use swimming, cycling, and running as tools to...

Nurturing a future generation —children who are confident, disciplined, persistent, loving, and lead healthy lives..

  • "A playground," not a "battleground": Trikids is a safe playground where children can be themselves, make mistakes, and have fun without judgment. We want each training session to be a joyful childhood memory.

  • Joy is the fuel: Cycling sessions are exciting virtual races. Running sessions are games of chase. And after each training session, the reward isn't praise for achievement, but refreshing ice cream cones shared with teachers and friends. It is these moments that build a more enduring love of sports than any training program.

  • Build character before building athletes: Discipline isn't about obeying orders, but about learning to prepare yourself and arrive on time. Perseverance isn't about gritting your teeth and enduring, but about learning not to give up halfway through a game. Team spirit is about learning to cheer on your teammates when they cross the finish line.

2. Gopeaks' Mission: Conquering New Heights

In contrast, Gopeaks is designed for mature athletes who have found love and commitment to the sport, and now want to conquer specific achievement goals.

  • "The arena," where limits are challenged: Gopeaks is a professional training environment based on data (FTP, CTL, Pace Zone, etc.) and scientific training methods to optimize performance.

  • Performance is the goal: Every training, nutrition, and recovery plan is geared towards one clear objective: completing a race, breaking a personal best, or standing on the podium.

Separating these two programs is our commitment to protecting children's childhood . We don't want to turn 7-8 year olds into "little old men" burdened with pressure to achieve results. We want them to live their lives according to their age, so that their love of sports can blossom naturally and strongly.

A Victory Greater Than a Medal

And the result of that patient journey is not just medals. It's an intangible victory, yet one that is infinitely more valuable:

  • The victory of teamwork: It's when one teammate crosses the finish line first, doesn't rush to rest, but stands at the finish line waiting for the last teammate to complete the race, so they can share the joy together.

  • The triumph of family bonding: This is the image of parents not only cheering from the sidelines, but also companions in "Family Fun Days," running alongside their children, and riding their first bicycles. A love of sports has become the bond that unites the whole family.

  • A victory of courage: It's when a young child falls off their bike, gets up on their own, endures the pain to finish the race amidst the cheers of everyone. They may not finish in the top position, but they have conquered their own fear.

  • The victory of pure joy: And above all, it's the smiles, the cheers, the memories that will stay with the children throughout their lives, so that in the future, whether they become professional athletes or not, they will still carry within them a love of sports and a healthy lifestyle.

Thanks to their unwavering commitment to this philosophy, the Trikids family had 16 athletes participating and brought home a shower of medals at the recent Trifactor competition.

Freshmen TF distance:

  • 🥇 Doan Ngoc Nha My – Gold Medal

  • 🥈 Doan Ngoc Gia Han – Silver Medal

  • 🥉 Phan Lĩnh Duy Phong – Bronze Medal

TF Kids distance:

  • 🥇 Tran Ngoc Mai – Gold Medal

  • 🥈 Japanese Grape Elixir – Silver Medal

  • 🥈 Phan Duc Uy Thong – Silver Medal

  • 🥉 Phan Nhu Hoang (Nhu Y) – Bronze Medal

These medals are not the goals we pursue, but rather the inevitable product of a proper process . They are the result of respecting children's natural development, prioritizing enjoyment, and fostering a lasting love of sports.

We're not creating performance machines. We're nurturing happy, healthy individuals who will carry this love of sports through their lives. And that, in itself, is the greatest victory for Gopeaks and Trikids.
